Musician's Phrasebook
Tight / Loose
“Tight” means precisely locked together rhythmically. “Loose” means relaxed and human — not necessarily sloppy.
Why it matters
Both are compliments in the right context. A great band can sound tight in the groove and loose in feel at the same time.
Used in a sentence
“That rhythm section is so tight.”
